Modern Farmer had a recent article about how regenerative agriculture that sequesters carbon in the soil, also known as carbon farming, is becoming more widely known as a tool to address climate change. Holistic Management practitioners like Gabe Brown and Joel Salatin were specifically noted as practicing carbon farming techniques. While other countries are offering carbon credits to farmers who can prove they have sequestered carbon, for many farmers, the reward for increased carbon is improved soil productivity and resilience to drought. The 5 tenets of carbon farming were listed as:

  1. No-till

  2. Organic Mulch

  3. Compost

  4. Livestock Rotation

  5. Cover Crops
