Livestock Management for Coexisting with Large Carnivores

Matt Barnes, Holistic Management practitioner and Field Director for Keystone Conservation, recently let us know that Keystone has released a white paper on livestock management for coexisting with large carnivores, healthy land, and productive ranches. Matt wrote about this topic in our bimonthly publication, IN PRACTICE, last year and we are excited that the full report is now available. It focuses on a variety of techniques like fladry to deter predators from an area or herding to congregate herds so they are less vulnerable to predation so that ranchers not only lose less of their herds to predation, but also reap the benefits of improved land health and the attendant financial benefits of improved land productivity.
