Holistic Management & Stockmanship in a Working Cattle and Sheep Setting
A Two‑Day Hands-On Workshop in San Marcos, Texas • November 5–6
With Dawn Hnatow & Linda Pechin‑Long
$350 • Lunch Included Both Days • Full & Partial Scholarships Available
This two-day workshop offers a valuable, hands-on opportunity to work cattle and sheep with low-stress livestock handling expert, Dawn Hnatow, while applying the principals of Holistic Management taught by Linda Pechin-Long, Holistic Management International Professional Certified Educator. Whether you’re new to these topics or refining your approach, this event promises real-world wisdom, open dialogue, and a chance to see regenerative principles in action.
Dawn Hnatow of Cattle Up Stockmanship will share unique insights gleaned from years of experience working with Bud Williams. Dawn’s training helps participants understand how to work with livestock to encourage specific behaviors and movement.
Linda Pechin-Long, Professional Certified Educator, will provide practical tools to help managers make informed decisions that align with their long-term goals. By anticipating changes, managers can adjust herd sizes based on forage availability, track land health indicators, and act early to reduce risks, supporting both rangeland sustainability and business resilience.
Why Holistic Management Matters Here
Agriculture is unpredictable — weather shifts, forage changes, and animal needs evolve. Traditional land management often overlooks this complexity. Holistic Management® provides a way to navigate it with clarity, helping producers read ecosystem processes, anticipate change, and make decisions that support social, environmental, and financial resilience.
During this workshop, Linda Pechin‑Long will weave in key Holistic Management concepts, including:
Understanding the four ecosystem processes and how they influence grazing outcomes
Using goal setting to guide decisions that align with long-term vision
Applying the seven testing questions to evaluate actions and reduce risk
Recognizing how different tools affect land and livestock
Strengthening resource management through a clear Management Inventory
Integrating triple bottom line thinking into everyday decisions
These frameworks complement Dawn Hnatow’s low-stress livestock handling instruction, giving participants both the skills to work animals calmly and effectively and the tools to manage land with intention and foresight.
