Deverell Pedersen

Deverell’s journey to HMI began because she is a stubborn purist. An avid cook and gardener struggling to find healthier food, she began reading – looking for solutions for better health, a more modest footprint, and less dependency on the modern commercial food system. Of course, one book led to another, and she just couldn’t stop. The more she learned, the more she couldn’t “un-know” and this ultimately led her to serve for many years as a Chapter Leader for the Weston A. Price Foundation and as a co-founder of the Rockland Farm Alliance. Her education continues, and her certainty that everything ultimately comes back to the health of the soil is reinforced daily.

Professionally, Deverell has supported C+ level executives for decades in a variety of business arenas, from finance and healthcare to many years in the 501(c)3 space. She holds a BA from Virginia Commonwealth University and lives in rural Rappahannock County, VA (where there are more cows than people, and no stoplights!) with her husband, where they are learning to navigate their new "empty nest".
